1550 Masterclass, made by Locked Prep, is an SAT-prep membership. This page explains what we collect, why, who can see it, and how to have it removed. We keep it short, and we never sell your data. Using the site also means agreeing to our Terms.
What we collect
- Account details — your name, email address and a scrambled (hashed) version of your password.
- Age and agreement — when you sign up you tick one box confirming you're 13 or older and that you agree to the Terms and this Privacy Policy. We keep only that tick, when you made it and which version of the Terms it was. We never ask for or store your date of birth.
- Payment — handled entirely by Stripe. Your card number never reaches our site. From Stripe we keep your plan, what it costs, whether it's active, when you agreed to automatic renewal, and the country on your billing details.
- Country — a two-letter country code, from your billing details or, if that's missing, worked out roughly when you create your account. We never store your IP address, city or precise location.
- How you found us — your answer to “Where did you hear about 1550 Masterclass?”
- Your study plan — goal score, test date and any previous SAT score you give us.
- Study activity — minutes you actively use the site each day, and your practice answers and scores (finished practice tests are saved on our server so the site owner can review them).
- Site visits — a plain count of visits to our public pages per day, and how many came from our Instagram link. We store only these totals: no IP address, cookie or profile of any visitor.
- Signed-in devices — a general device label (for example “Chrome on Mac”) so we can enforce one device per membership.
We don't use advertising cookies, tracking pixels, third-party analytics services or session recording. The site keeps your sign-in and some study progress in your own browser's storage so it works; nothing there is used to track you across other sites. Our fonts and maths typesetting are served from our own site.
Why we use it
- To run your account, your membership and your refunds (our contract with you).
- To show your progress, countdown and practice history.
- To understand, in total, where members come from and how the course is used, so we can improve it (our legitimate interest in running a good course).
- To email you about your account and, if you leave them switched on, announcements and office-hours reminders. Every one of those has an Unsubscribe link, and you can also turn them off under Alerts & notifications.
Who can see it
You and the site owner. Other members see only your display name and scores on the leaderboard. We never sell or rent your data or use it for advertising. We share only what each of these services needs to make the site work:
- Netlify — hosting and storage of your account.
- Stripe — payments.
- Resend — sending our emails.
- Anthropic (Claude) — the answers you write in Answer-First Reading, and a summary of the questions you missed on a practice test, are sent to Anthropic's AI to mark your answer and write your feedback report. Your name and email are not sent, and Anthropic does not use this data to train its models.
- Google — only if you choose “Sign up with Google” or “Log in with Google”. Your browser goes to Google to sign in, and we receive your verified email address and the name on your Google account. Nothing is sent to Google otherwise.
- Desmos — the graphing calculator on maths questions loads from desmos.com, which sees your IP address like any website you visit.
- YouTube, Vimeo or Loom — only when you play a course video hosted there. YouTube videos use its privacy-enhanced mode, which doesn't set cookies until you press play.
If you answer out loud in Answer-First Reading, your browser's own speech service (Google in Chrome, Apple in Safari) turns your voice into text. We receive only the text.
How long we keep it
For as long as you have an account. Daily activity older than about 13 months is deleted automatically. Stripe keeps payment records as the law requires.
Your rights
Wherever you live, you can ask us to see, correct, download or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by emailing the1550masterclass@gmail.com. We'll reply within 30 days and won't treat you differently for asking. Deleting your data ends your account. If you're in the EU or UK, you can also complain to your local data-protection authority. We don't sell or “share” personal information as California law defines those words.
Children and students under 18
1550 Masterclass is for students 13 and older. Everyone confirms they're 13 or older before an account is created, and nobody younger may create an account or buy a membership. If we learn that we've collected data from a child under 13, we delete it and close the account. If you're a parent and think your child under 13 has an account, or want to review or remove your teenager's data, email us at the address above.
Changes
If this page changes in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and let members know.
